Job Description

- Reporting to the Plant Manager based in Singapore, you will spearhead process improvement initiatives which include cycle time reduction, material efficiency improvements and product consistency. The person will work closely with the Quality, Operations, Technical and also Global Process Engineering teams to trouble shoot customer and process impediments and support expansion projects regionally. You will also work with the HSE function in areas of Process Safety Management.
- Establish data base of critical to quality (CTQ) process parameters and analyse trends as pertinent in relation to product consistency or quality incidents
- Develop and standardize control plans and standard operating procedures to minimize variability in the products and processes
- Develop and maintain KPIs
- Work closely with counterparts in other regions to establish Best Practices and ensuring these are documented, understood and deployed in the plant
- Spearhead, develop and champion tactical initiatives with respect to process cycle time and material efficiency and initiate programs or small projects as pertinent to address these
- Work with Technical and Operations functions to improve process and product robustness
- Work with Quality, Technical and Operations functions to investigate customer complaints from process point of view and implement corrective and preventive actions as pertinent
- As part of expansion project, work closely with project team to establish performance and control requirements for implementation of third reactor in the Singapore facility
- Prepare Engineering packages for projects and conduct material and energy balances as required by projects
- Select and size equipment such as reactors, pumps, valves and utilities (compressed air, chillers, nitrogen)
- Support regional capital projects as required
- Work closely with HSE function on PSM requirements such as updating PSIs, PHAs and initiation of MOCs as necessary

Requirements

- Degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry, with minimum of 5 – 8 years of working experience in process engineering within a chemical batch plant environment.
- Must have experience in resins and reactor processes
- Must have experience sizing and selecting equipment and utilities and have intimate understanding of engineering computations to support this.
- Must have performed heat and material balances on a frequent basis
- Proven track record of either leading or playing a major role in capital projects
- Proven track record of using statistical methods such as SPC, SQC, DOE etc. to address process variability and root cause analysis
- Experience with Process Safety Management is required
- Must be a self-starter who is able to work on minimum supervision.
