Plant Manager (Aromatics / Start-up Environment)

• Opportunity to start up an aromatics chemical plant from ground up.
• Plant Construction Management and Plant Operations Management

Our Client:

Our client is an established chemical distribution company with exciting expansion plans into the
aromatics business. This role will initially be on fixed-term contract of one year during the
construction phase, which may be converted to permanent basis later on.

Phase 1 (Construction Stage)

• Work with the Project team and co-ordinate with various suppliers, vendors, contractors and consultants to implement the project from budget finalization until completion on ground.
• Ensure proper co-ordination and work flow, engage with consultants and contractors, so that timetable are adhered to and meet deadline for project implementation.
• Working together with the project team leader, to draft, revise, review and negotiate the terms and conditions of the contracts with all parties and ensure the interest of the company is protected.
• Ensure all product / equipment specification are up to verified and agree specification and where testing is required ( eg ASME ), it is done.
• Ensure that HSE regulations are fully complied to.
• Demonstrate knowledge of local gov’t licence and regulations and ensure they are compiled to.
• Check and verify cost of materials for project implementation are procure at market rate.
• To work with existing technology provider to resolve technical issues, co-ordinate between parties and smooth the process.
• Access the technical suitability of consultant proposal in terms of both process and equipment.
• Make recommendations to project team leader from time to time on improvement to the setup.
• Ensure confidentiality on all company technical asset, intellectual property and information.

Phase 2 (Plant Operation Stage)

• Manage the operation of the essential oil manufacturing plant. To ensure plant run efficiently and with min down time while ensuring cost competitiveness in the operation.
• Ensure proper running of the plant so as to minimizing downtime and maximize efficiency as per KPI.
• Ensure all production schedule are met as per request as per KPI.
• Ensure all logistics pertaining to raw material and finished product storage and movement is well planned and efficiently managed.
• Ensure overall cost competitiveness targets are meet as per KPI.
• Schedule regular necessary maintenance and inspection of equipment to ensure plant is run at optimum efficiency.
• Ensure all health, safety and environment regulations are strictly adhere to and target zero accident.
• Approve procurement of new parts and equipment when deemed necessary.
• Plan and supervise any future plant expansion.
• Assist R&D dept in conducting trial runs.
• Manage plant personnel on site such as Plant Engineer, Plant operators, lab technicians etc. and ensure they perform their work efficiently and effectively.
• Evaluate plant employees on their performance periodically.
• Ensure confidentiality on all company technical asset, intellectual property and information.

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, with at least 10 years of related experience in running a chemical plant operation, particularly in Essential Oil production.
• Must have experience in overseeing projects from start to finish (e.g plant construction, expansion) from design (including design changes), engagement with consultants and contractors up to commissioning of the plant, as well as managing project budget and cost.
• Knowledge of all common plant operation and equipment (pumps, valves, sensors, HMI etc) and keep updated with the latest technology.
• Demonstrated knowledge in quality control, production and maintenance processes.
• Demonstrated knowledge in plant process improvement and yield optimization.
• Ability to effectively lead a team.
