Our Client:

Our client is in the electricity market that provides trading environment and governance for the market. They are involved in 3 areas such as compliance, rule-making and dispute resolution.

The trainee economist/economist is part of a team that plays a key role in the development of Singapore's electricity market. Successful applicant is expected to assist the team leads in the implementation, development and operations of the market.

The Responsibilities:

* Ensuring that recommendations made on market design and rule changes meet the Singapore Government's strategic objective to have an efficient and competitive electricity industry in Singapore
* Identify opportunities to influence market designs so the company is positioned to maximize its contribution to the success of the energy market, including economic, policy, regulatory and technological markets
* Critically analyze the electricity market to identify areas of inefficiency and initiate improvements to the market to reduce or eliminate these areas
* Promote the creation of strategic opportunities and develop proposals with consultation from key industry and stakeholders
* Manage and present rule change proposals supported by the Rule Change Panel to the Board for adoption
* Manage and prepare reports of rule changes for approval
* Act as the liaison between participants and internal departments on the registration process

The Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree in Economics or equivalent
* 1‐2 years working experience in an analytical/regulatory environment. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply
* Well‐developed analytical skills including innovation problem solving, influencing, writing and communication skills
* Attention to details and the ability to identify and maintaining good working relationships with industry stakeholders
* Good overall understanding of operational, financial and legal concepts.
* Strong knowledge of and interest in domestic and/or international energy markets at both operational and/or policy level for electricity and emerging energy related areas would be an added advantage
