Job Description
Purpose: To assist the Senior Structural Engineer in managing the detailed designs of major infrastructure projects in Singapore.
The Responsibilities:
• Work closely with the Senior Civil / Structural Engineer for the preparation of the technical submissions for the approval of QP, AC and BCA.
• Participate in the design of the NATM tunnels, Cast-in-situ tunnel lining designs and Segmental linings, as assigned by the Senior Civil / Structural Engineer and / or the Project Design Director.
• Manage the drafting team.
• Assist the Senior Civil / Structural Engineer in his task to co-ordinate with the Client, Sub-consultant and the Design Team to:
o Attend meetings with the Client.
o Assist in liaison with QP(D) and QP(S).
o Assist in liaison with various governmental authorities.
o Assist in liaison with the Public Utilities Board & Superintending Officer.
o Perform various coordinating tasks and risk managements.
o Perform scheduling tasks along with administrative duties.
o Report writing and handling project queries.
o Ensure that Client’s needs are met as the project evolves.
o Assists in other ad hoc duties as assigned.
Requirements
• Engineering degree in the civil structural engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in tunnelling designs (Knowledge of EC2, EC3 and EC7 are essential).
• Geotechnical background is essential.
• Professional and confident approach to working relationships.
• Team orientated with the ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and peers.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently when required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal skills.
• Solid organisation skills including multitasking and time-management.
• Demonstrated good presentation and reporting skills.
• Use of Plaxis, Robot software.
• Knowledge of BIM and relevant software (Revit and Naviswork) is an additional skill.
