Role Overview:
We are currently working with a global manufacturer of technology-based specialty glass & ceramic components & products for use in the Electronics / Information Display / Optical Communications / Life Sciences manufacturing industries. A leader in the field of specialty glass for LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors they have existing manufacturing facilities around the region. Working as Division manager for Power engineering your role will be to review their existing facilities to define division-wise power system strategy, looking at way to reduce power consumption & running costs whilst improving reliability & stability of power systems within their manufacturing operations.
Key Deliverables:
* Responsible for management of the company's electrical power related project portfolio you will be expected to lead and support the evaluation of both new electrical system design and implement continuous improvements in the existing electrical system with the goal to deliver energy saving and cost reduction projects and resolve any electrical power engineering problems.
* You will be required to identify & deliver capital expansion projects for electrical and power systems working closely with both division and corporate engineering teams
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
* Manage & develop the Group's core capacities on electrical power related field, e.g. electrical system basic design, electrical safety, electrical energy saving, electrical operation and maintenance, etc.
* Lead the setting up of Company worldwide standards covering design of electrical system & equipment specification including alignment and benchmarking systems for their portfolio of plants and setting up an electrical engineer training program
* Manage successful delivery of wide range of electrical system design and improvement projects for their manufacturing operations
* Conduct audit of existing electrical systems for plants and provide solution / recommendations to solve any power supply issues
Background & Experience:
* Must be degree qualified in power and/or electrical engineering with a minimum of 15 years working experience in electrical power system design, commissioning, and maintenance of large, complex electrical power systems.
* Ideally you will also be Licensed / Certified Professional Engineer with a fundamental understanding of electrical systems, electrical power substation, grounding and lightning protection system.
* Some experience in complex electrical system design and analysis, such as; short circuit current studies / Arc flash studies / Protection and coordination (P&C) studies / load flow analysis would be an advantage also.
* Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of electrical system/equipment such as; GIS, transformers, MV-SWGR, LV-SWBD, power generator, motor, UPS, ATS/CTTS, protection relay/breaker, etc. would be preferred.
* Successful candidates should also have a previous background in electrical equipment installation, testing and commissioning of electrical equipment and electrical systems.
* Additionally experience in the operation and maintenance of industrial power electronics, e.g. specialty power transformers, rectifiers, SCRs, IGBTs, etc. would be an advantage.
* Candidates should have strong project management skills, e.g. scope, cost, management, etc.
* As this role will be managing teams across a number of geographies across Asia good written and oral communication skills in English and Chinese (Mandarin) will be required to communicate with both internal & external stakeholders.
